Match group owns online dating; could see shares blow up after restrictions lift

Match owns Tinder, Hinge, Pairs and the like. When Bumble announced its IPO shares fell, but investors shouldn’t be overly discouraged: Match entered the fourth quarter having outperformed the midpoint of its initial guidance by between 3% and 14% over the past three years, according to Jefferies analyst Brent Thill. Impressively, its fourth-quarter numbers show it also met its initial revenue guidance for 2020, given way back in early November of 2019, before the first case of Covid-19 had even been identified.

Qualcomm's warning that semiconductor shortage is spreading

And they would know what they are talking about, as Qualcomm is the world's largest phone chip maker. Like many other semiconductor companies, Qualcomm is struggling to meet the recent surge in demand, as both EVs and Electronics are hungry for chips to function. Covid-19 initially made the demand drop, but it quickly picked up pace when people started to work from home. The surge in demand for EV managed to sold out chips. Note that these will go to electronics in priority, as consumers electronic companies can offer better prices and quantity, partially thanks to much higher margins and volume on finished products. Qualcomm's shares closed at $162.30 yesterday, making the stock up 6.5% for the year.

Amazon is much more than an online store

While we all think of Amazon as a huge e-commerce platform, this is not the full picture. The company has introduced plenty of other services in addition to its generic e-commerce activity and cloud computing offerings. In addition to their smart speaker line, they built new wi-fi routers, Fire TV streaming sticks, a autonomous home security drone and plenty of other gadgets. As you can see on the graph below, Amazon's e-commerce activity represents only half of its revenue, with commissions charged to third party sellers, AWS, subscriptions services, physical stores and other activities making up for the other half.
