Softbank stock hits record high, Son gears up for bright future of IPOs

The shares rose 4.2% to finish at 10,420 yen, surpassing its previous record of 10,111.09 yen marked on Feb. 18, 2000. SoftBank’s share price increases have been backed by a surging stock market which lifted the value of its portfolio companies.

Food is the final E-commerce frontier

While we've seen a surge in e-commerce this year and the previous years, online spending as a share of food retail remains in the single digits. It seems that the coronavirus boost is mainly visible in Asia, where online share of food spending have increased from under 3% to over 4%. Europe and North America remain a little behind, with the online food budget representing only 1% of spending.

Online dating apps saw much growth from 2019 to 2020

The growing interest in dating apps is leading to more downloads and more time spent on them. In all, downloads of the eight major apps increased 7.4% year-over-year in the fourth quarter; in comparison, downloads in the fourth quarter of 2019 decreased 8.5% year-over-year. Meanwhile, time spent on the apps rose 13.4% in the fourth quarter, up from 4.1% in the prior year. Source: WSJ

Disney goes over 90M subscribers, three years in advance

When Disney launched its streaming business Disney+, they had a target of 90 million subscribers by 2024. Well, they just reached the 95 million mark, as announced in their latest earnings report. For comparison, it took Netflix 9 years to reach their 204 million subscribers. Will Disney+ manage to take Netflix's number 1 spot in the coming years?
