Technology stock performance has pulled the S&P 500 upwards

The Nasdaq has risen by over 5% in the past month, and the S&P 500 by 2%, which means they have generally outperformed smaller rises or even falls in other advanced economy equity markets. That outperformance is because tech stocks have been doing better lately, and tech stocks make up a larger share of the S&P 500 than they do the other advanced economy indices.

Chinese small cap growth stocks trade at a premium

Investors in China are betting on small-cap growth shares to reignite returns as a shift away from blue-chips starts gaining traction. While the mainland benchmark CSI 300 is slightly down over the past month, the tech-heavy ChiNext Index is up 6% and the Nasdaq-style Star Board 50 Index has gained 12%. An MSCI Inc. gauge of small-cap growth stocks in China has gained 2%, in stark contrast to its economically sensitive value share equivalent which is down 6.5%.

Ark fans must not fear: Cathie Wood is back

ARKK managed to attract over $500 million of inflows in the month of June, after rather modest outflows in the two previous months. The company's pile of asset under management is rising once again, and her flagship fund has gained 26% since the May low. The question remains: can she keep going? Many analysts argue that her stock picks are long-term ones, as they're mostly based on hypergrowth technology stocks. The only threat would thus only be interest rates expectations, which needs to stay still so that tech can remain well bid.

Is online grocery shopping here to stay?

The below chart is a rather interesting one. People bought online during the pandemic, that is no secret, but we have to note that although the percentage in online purchases declined for clothing and department stores shopping, grocery shopping seems to maintain its online share. It seems that although some switches were temporary, some are meant to be more durable, engraved in consumers habits.
