In case you missed it, Uber was developing a flying taxi business. Hello future. California-based start-up Joby aviation just acquired Uber Elevate for an unknown amount. All we know is that Uber invested $75 million in the company, adding to the $50 million they had invested in their series C funding. The service could open as soon as 2023, not so far away after all.

The company was reported to hunt for $150 million and a $2.2 billion valuation, but they may raise more later on. This is no surprise for a company with a steady revenue growth, which is, unlike many, profitable. The psychological strains that can be attributed to the pandemic also gave a push to the company growth, with more and more people looking for solutions helping them reach calm and peace of mind. The issue is so big that their competitors, Headspace, even offered a free membership to all people that are unemployed. A stressful year is good news for services offering to diminish it.
