National Grid exits the gas market

National Grid declared today that it was exiting the gas market, turning entirely towards "net zero" carbon and green energy through a flurry of deals totaling £18 billion. This is certainly one of the most dramatic UK corporate shift we have seen in the energy sector. They will be selling their gas operation (PPL) as part of a deal to buy UK's largest electricity distributer: Western Power Distribution. In the end, the proportion of its electric assets will rise from 60% to 70%.
