While the company still held 10% of the US market, the company only saw losses in the long term, and decided to quit to focus on other projects. Many fans were very sad to hear the news, saying that LG maybe did not make the best phones, but always came up with interesting new ideas. The company had been making phones for 25 years now, but slowly fell behind stronger competitors like Samsung and Apple.

To put things in perspective: The S&P 500 / Fed Balance sheet is trading at the same level as in 2008

The S&P 500 may have hit a new ATH today, but if you put the index in relation to the Fed's balance sheet, it is trading at the same level as in 2008, so equities have traded sideways since 2008, basically counteracting balance sheet expansion.
