A study shows that many developed countries are now working towards creating a national digital currency. Around a fifth of central banks from major economies responded to the survey stating that issuing digital currency was possible in the medium to long term. Central banks are moving more and more from conceptual research to practical experimentation.

European national outcomes are falling behind

By and large, European Nations are failing to grow their national incomes.  The graph below shows the change in gross national income per capita in 2019, with the percentage change from 2014. Switzerland remains on top despite a slight decrease of 1.2%. The US and Korea have made the most progress, with a 15.2% and 16.7% growth respectively.
