Gold prices held around $1,776 per ounce at the end of this month, close from a seven week pit of $1,760 seen on June 17th and on track for the worst month since 2016 after the US federal Reserve sped up their expected pace of policy tightening earlier in the month. Market participants are also weighing fresh travel restrictions in Europe and Asia-Pacific amid worsening outbreaks of the coronavirus variant. The greenback is going strong however which weighs on the safe haven asset. Gold prices are down 6.9% for the month.
