Crops rise as traders assess export prospects in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida

Crops prices climbed as investors watched Hurricane Ida for signs of interruption to US exports while assessing a larger rally in risk assets in response to the Federal Reserve's dovish views. On Sunday, Hurricane Ida slammed into the Louisiana coast, jeopardizing US energy supplies as well as crucial soybean and grain transit routes. Soybeans now at an 8-month low

After news that the Environmental Protection Agency would consider cutting federal biofuel blending standards to 2020 levels, Chicago soybean futures stabilized around $13 a bushel, the lowest since December 2020, on concerns about demand from biofuel producers. Rally looking up again for dry bulk rates

The Baltic Dry hit 4,147 points on Monday, the highest since May 2010. Rates for Capesize carriers jumped 2% to $50,708, the strongest market since at least 2014, according to the Baltic Exchange. Forward contracts are pointing to continued bullish expectations. Source: Bloomberg
